In the same way, when an article has no data, we should listen to the breathing of its characters. An empty season teaches us that glory is something we create in our minds before it appears. I was once laughed at for using esports terms to describe a football match. I have not changed my mind. In a world full of analyses with missing data, the only thing that can save a writer is honesty about his own limits. Fans may leave, but the stories we tell will stay on the field. So if someone asks what to do with an empty analysis, my answer is simple: put it down, close the laptop and go to the field. Watch how players warm up, how the coach stands near the touchline, how the crowd changes its voice with every touch. Data matters, but it is not the gatekeeper of stories. When the analysis says it cannot assess, the match will still speak.
